Purchased at BB after the measuring tape confirmed that our first choice 1101 wouldn't fit our space without kinking the hoses. Some have complained about 1101 unbalancing, but after three weeks, no problems at all with the 1001. As with the 1101, there's a warning against washing waterproof items, although "If you must, please select the BULKY cycle." HE detergent required. The lid locks during operation but there's a pause button. It's much quieter than our 8-year old Kenmore and seems to leave the clothes a bit drier. The cycle is longer. Haven't compared water use. If you plan on moving anytime soon, at delivery retain the "foam block (that contains the Owner's Manual...)" - ours got tossed before reading the manual. Same for the additional leveling risers, if you have an uneven floor. A pdf manual is available from LG.com. No experience with customer service. The Smart Diagnosis system works by sending tones over your cell phone placed near the power button. No experience with it, but at least no Wi-Fi setup is required to use it.
